Igor Kefalidis (b. 1941) - Composer and Pianist, Member of Union of Russian Composers; of Associations of Contemporary and Electronic music (Moscow); of Studio LIGYS (Paris) studied at Moscow State Conservatory by Prof. Samuil Feinberg and Yakov Zak (piano class) and by Prof. Rodion Schedrin (composition class). As a pianist he travelled around the world performing both classical and contemporary music and his own music as well. Since the beginning of his artistic career Igor Kefalidis has been always actively involved in a musical life of Moscow and he was instrumental in arranging special projects, including international ones.

Igor Kefalidis belong to a generation of composers who made a strong statement at the last quarter of the 20th century. His composer's capabilities are emphasized with innovative approach in every opus, with creation of unique constructive and sound solutions and he takes a full advantage of contemporary composition techniques.

In 60's and 80's composer's interest of Igor Kefalidis (he created more than 60 opuses in various genres) was closely tied to Instrumental music, particularly Chamber and Piano music (Konsert i Bellmans Hus, Trio a quattro, three piano sonatas), plus Orchestra music (symphony and concerts). In 90's his major interest became concentrated around electronic compositions, where he demonstrated a new innovative approach to compositional technique. He was working intensively at electronic studios in France, Belgium, Germany bringing to life his creative ideas - Vogelperspektive for Magnetic Tape, audiovisual Grisions, Feu le fol, eh! (with laser show), interactive Zu seiner wahren Gestalt, microtonal Foxt 4x4 and other works.

An important part of his artistic biography is a long term cooperation with a Moscow Satire Theater and with Russian Movie Industry.

Igor Kefalidis is a regularly participant of international music festival "Moscow Autumn". His compositions were performed in many cities of Russia and former USSR, as well as in Germany, Austria, England, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Israel, USA, Australia, Japan, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Hungary and Brasil.

Music of Igor Kefalidis was performed under the conducting of Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Juozas Domarkas, Vasily Sinaisky, Dmitry Kitaenko,Vladimir Pon'kin, Pavel Kogan, Freddy Cadena and also in the interpretation of the following soloists - Tamara Gabarashvili, Nikolai Petrov, Victoria Postnikova, Liana Isakadze, Tatiana Grindenko, Marina Mdivani, Gerd Zacher, Marcel Cominotto, Mark Pekarsky, Mikhail Doubov, Victor Grishin, Andrej Vinnitski, Matthew Kocmieroski and Mikhail Shmidt (Seattle Chamber Players), ensembles - Icebreaker (London), Studio of New Music (conductor Igor Dronov).
